If you’re trying to get a tower rating I would suggest you try and stay at Rucker or go to Korea. but at least they have ACįor 15Q training usually is about 20-24 weeks.

Just a revolving door of information and training being crammed into you and dumped out of you because Guard Aviation is ill designed for 15Ps to retain or grow in their specialty unless they go full time or deploy. Should you finish that your section or team lead will class you on clerical forms they won’t ever let you touch or battle drills for the TOC you don’t spend nearly enough time in. If your battle NCO is shit however, TOC time can be a super stressful experience.Įither way you won’t spend every drill in a TOC, probably not even most drills.Ī typical 15P drill consists of company details or taskings. Depending on your Op tempo it can be quite engaging and rewarding. TOC time can be enjoyable depending on how competent your battle NCO is (usually a senior 15P). So as a 15P everything you learn in the first 4 or 5 weeks of AIT will be brain dumped when you get to your unit and don’t touch a Flight Record for years. Your unit/facility’s full time 15Ps will hog them.
As an M-Day guy you will never touch any of the clerical or admin stuff. If you want to do ATC then go 15Q, there’s nothing related to ATC for 15P’s except for the most basic, watered down Flight Ops version of mission tracking.ġ5P is a clerical position that only gets tactical when in a TOC.
